On-One Whippet Carbon XC MTB Frame
These look the business and still ride faster than any other MTB frame we know of. Incredible value- the ultimate speed chassis.
Ride all your favorite routes at greater speed, with increased confidence; fly up climbs, tackle technical sections with greater precision and be more assertive on descents.
We think our Whippet is the ultimate short-travel Carbon XC frame. With 6 months in development we've hit on a cross-country frame that we're really proud of. What started with the race proven Scandal geometry, that's excelled on the UK cross country circuit, is now even lighter, stiffer, faster and fun to ride.
Note: limited edition coloured frames are supplied with silver swap-outs and not the red ones pictured.
Features:
Front Mech Compatibility:
The Carbon Whippet uses a direct mount front mech which saves weight and allows for an optimum seat tube profile. However, MTB direct mount formats have been slow to standardise and new 10 speed front mech systems have become more bulky- some models can foul the frame on the lowest gear.
For best results use the same make of chainset and front mech. The following front mechs work fine:
High Direct Mount (HDM):
Any SRAM HDM, 2x10, DUAL PULL
Low Direct Mount (LDM):
SRAM XX LDM 2x10 S3 42 TOP PULL- limited to 42T Chainsets
The following Mechs need a 1mm washer between the HDM plate and the mech:
Any SRAM HIGH DIRECT MOUNT, 3x10, DUAL PULL
Shimano FD-M771-D (XT) 9 speed
Shimano FD-M661-D (SLX) 9 speed
Shimano FD-M771-10D (XT) 10 speed
Shimano FD-M661-10D (SLX) 10 speed
The following front mechs do not fit:
Low Direct Mount:
All Shimano LDM
Eg: Shimano FD-M771-E
All SRAM LDM excluding XX S3
Chainset / BB92 compatibility:
The Carbon Whippet frame was designed specifically to work with a new breed of double chainsets for XC competition use. It features an oversized super wide BB92 bottom bracket shell which increases stiffness and makes for optimal power transfer. However, we've found that the inner spider bolts on certain triple chainsets may foul the paint on the BB shell.
The Whippet is recommended for use only with the following chainsets:
All Hollowtech 2 / GXP / Megaexo (24mm axle) style 2x10 and single speed chainsets
All Shimano Hollowtech 2 (24mm axle) 3x9 and 3x10 chainsets.
Note: Chainsets should be used with a BB92 bottom bracket of the same make for best fit.
